MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday called for volunteers to assist in relief operations for families affected by the recent explosive eruption of Kanlaon Volcano.
DSWD spokesperson and Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said volunteers are needed at the National Resource Operations Center (NROC) at Chapel Road in Barangay 195, Pasay City.
“We are calling on our kababayans in the National Capital Region and nearby areas to help in the agency’s repacking operations at the NROC,” Dumlao said in a statement.
“In times of calamity, it is our deep sense of bayanihan that allows us to stay resilient, and ensure swift delivery of aid to communities in need. Now is the perfect time to put our compassion to action,” she added.

The volcano remains under Alert Level 3, indicating magmatic unrest.
