MANILA, Philippines — The father of the five-year-old girl, who died after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into the departure entrance of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 1, could not help but burst into tears following the death of his child.
The child’s father let out a wail while being assisted by the personnel of aviation security, as seen in an online video posted by the DZRH on Sunday afternoon.
“Anak ko yan! Anak ko yan!” the father shouted.
(That’s my child! That’s my child!)
The father is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who had just gotten back in the country after two years and five months abroad, based on a Facebook reel posted by the four-year-old victim’s mother last April 16.
The family was back in the Naia for the father’s scheduled trip on Sunday.

Based on police reports, the SUV rammed into the departure entrance, causing the death of the child and a 28-year-old man.
The crash likewise injured four other individuals.
An initial report from the Land Transportation Office said the driver was about to leave the departure area after sending off a passenger when a sedan “suddenly passed in front of him.”
As a result, this caused him to panic, and instead of hitting the brakes, he stepped on the gas pedal.
