MANILA, Philippines — A bank robbery in Taguig City last Monday (May 5) was foiled by authorities, recovering the P7.4-million loot and arresting one suspect.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced this in a statement later that evening.
The police said the attempted robbery took place at a private commercial bank in Barangay Western Bicutan on Monday afternoon.
The Southern Police District (SPD) also issued a separate statement on Monday identifying the suspect as a 54-year-old male named “Bernard.”
“Investigators confirmed that the suspect entered the establishment posing as a regular client,” SPD said.
“After gaining the trust of the staff, he requested to use the restroom but emerged moments later, brandishing a loaded 9mm. pistol,” the statement narrated.
“Despite the tense situation, alias ‘Lilly’ (the bank’s personnel) discreetly activated the silent alarm. Within minutes, police officers from (Taguig City Police) Substation 2 responded and immediately neutralized the threat,” it stated.
