Internet sensation Panda Pandesal is back again, this time to win hearts online with his pet-centered campaign gimmick in light of the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.
As the representative of the gag political party “ASOsasyon FURTYlist,” Panda calls on pet owners to provide their fur babies more chicken, liver and the Filipino bread pandesal.
The now-viral video on Facebook, which calls for an increased supply of “chimken” (chicken) and treats. has gained support from furry friends and fur parents.
Get to know ‘Rep. Pandesal’
Panda was first known on social media around 2021 with his viral videos of slamming his fur parent’s screen door open after being prompted to fetch pandesal.
Fur mom Mamiraz told INQUIRER.net that they always buy pandesal for breakfast, and the fur baby regularly — and excitedly — accompanies them to get his favorite food.
Panda’s great love for the local bread led netizens to call him “Panda Pandesal” and garnered for him many followers as he brought good vibes online.
Mamiraz noted that the joy Panda gives to people resonates not just onscreen but also in real life. Panda is not simply a Shih Tzu addicted to bread; he is a gift to them — literally and figuratively.
She shared that Panda was a birthday gift from her husband. However, he also became a gift by becoming their anchor at a most difficult time during the pandemic.
“When he came to us, he was a big help. I resigned from the airlines and had no work because I couldn’t expose my husband to the virus, especially since he had cancer again. We became depressed then because we needed to choose between career and health,” Mamiraz said in Filipino.
Mamiraz may have lost something important back then, but Panda made them feel complete with love and happiness over the years.

Panda Pandesal is now a three-year-old dog and a father of seven adorable fur babies. Mamiraz has fondly dubbed his family the “Pamilyang Pandesal.”
