MANILA, Philippines — The moment she saw the two lines on her pregnancy test kit, she knew her life would change— for the better.
To be a mother and raise her beautiful family have been Rodelyn Dela Rosa’s lifelong dreams. And now that she is expecting her firstborn in September, she can’t wait to show her child the world.
As she prepares for motherhood, Dela Rosa told INQUIRER.net that she is happy and excited to know more about her pregnancy and to finally see her child.
(One of my dreams is to have my own family and to become a mother. They said that it’s difficult to become pregnant and give birth, but it is a great feeling when you finally give birth to your child,” she said in Filipino.

Dela Rosa shared that she began experiencing pregnancy symptoms in early January. She underwent three pregnancy tests– the first one turning out to be negative, then positive results for the rest.
Upon seeing the two lines on her second test, she and her husband immediately went to the doctor.
“Confirmed, I am preggy [pregnant]. My husband and I were so happy when we found out and it was also my birthday the day after,” she said.
“I am happy because that was the best gift from the Lord, that I will be a mother.”
Ever since finding out about her pregnancy, the 31-year-old mom-to-be and her husband made sure that they are giving their all for their child.
Dela Rosa shared that they started buying pregnancy essentials and renovating their room for their baby as early as they found out about the news.

While she knows that pregnancy can also be tough and challenging, she knows it will be worth it when she gets to see her child.
“I need to prepare for all the pain. But what’s always in my mind is that my baby and I can do this,” she shared.
“I always talk to my baby every time I feel the movements in my tummy, and I always tell my baby to not give mommy a hard time.”
With her husband by her side
She also said that if there is one person who is as delighted and excited as her, it would be her husband.
She shared that she knows how blessed she is because of how caring and supportive her husband is.
“Before we sleep, he always kisses my baby bump and he talks to our baby. It’s a joy seeing him like that.”
(And I know that when I give birth to my baby, he can take care of our child like it’s not the first time, because he also takes care of his sibling’s children.”
Her greatest role model
Now that Dela Rosa is going to be a mother, she paid tribute to the woman teaching her how to be a good mother. She is inspired by her mother’s sacrifices and how she became a strong foundation of their family.

(I can feel her care and love for us, even when we become a menace sometimes. But she never gave up on us, especially when we went through a hard time in life, but she never made us feel that we were being neglected.” she lovingly recalled.
The mom-to-be expressed that she will raise her child the way she was raised by her mother.
“That’s what I want to do when I get to finally hold my baby, to express my love and care and to raise my child to be polite and God-fearing.”
And as the world celebrates the greatness of being a mother, she beamed with joy as she can now be celebrated, along with the most important women in her life.
