MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Friday said it summoned the owner and the driver of the vehicle that caused a road crash incident in Noveleta, Cavite.
According to the LTO, both respondents were summoned through show cause order (SCO) where the driver was asked to explain why their driver’s license should not be revoked for reckless driving and for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
The driver was also asked to surrender her driver’s license.
“The driver’s license and the plate number of the vehicle are placed under alarm, preventing any and all transactions while under investigation,” the SCO read.
“Failure to appear and submit the written comments/explanations as required shall be construed by this Office as a waiver of your rights to be heard, and the case shall be decided based on the evidence at hand,” it added.
Meanwhile, the registered owner of the vehicle was also summoned for the investigation.
Citing initial investigations, the LTO said the vehicle was heading towards Cavite City when it suddenly accelerated and collided with a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
After the incident, the driver appeared to have put the vehicle on reverse and accelerated anew, hitting pedestrians and a light post.
