3 dead in road mishap in Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines — Three laborers on board a motorcycle died when their vehicle hit an oncoming truck at Crossing Cabanyohan, Barangay Tampalon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental at 9:40 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
The fatalities were the motorcycle driver Rico Ian Manlangit Samanero, 26, and his backriders Jomel Intig Hamaybay, 21, and Robin Gasataya Causapin, 19, a police report said.
They were observed to be under the influence of liquor, the report added.

Gerardo Makilan, 40, the driver of the Isuzu Giga truck, surrendered to the police.
The fatalities were on board the fast-moving Rusi TC 100 motorcycle on their way home when it hit the truck going towards the opposite direction, the police said.
The motorcycle driver and his passengers fell on the pavement.
Samanero and Hamaybay were declared dead on arrival at a hospital, while Causapin was pronounced dead while under treatment, the police said. /lzb
