Ralph Recto confirmed that he has already submitted his courtesy resignation as the chief of the Department of Finance (DOF).

His action is in response to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s call for the courtesy resignation of all of his cabinet secretaries.

On Thursday morning, Malacañang released Marcos’ order for all of his cabinet secretaries to resign, days after the results of the recent elections came out.

Marcos said the order aims to “realign government with the people’s expectations.”

After the decision was made public, Recto expressed his support for the directive of the chief executive.

In a statement, he said “the President carries the heavy burden of leading the nation through complex global and domestic challenges.”

“This bold decision was made with his desire to put people and country first,” he explained.

“That I serve at the pleasure of the President is a thought that has never been lost on me from the day I assumed office,” Recto said.

“I have already submitted my courtesy resignation without delay or reservation,” he added.

Recto was appointed the secretary of the DOF in 2024./apl
