MANILA, Philippines — Eight informants were rewarded with a total of P11.63 million in cash for helping the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in its anti-drug operations.
Four of the informants received P2 million each under the agency’s Operation Private Eye incentive program, PDEA said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the anti-drug agency, the eight informants led to a March 14 operation in Muntinlupa City that saw the seizure of 49.70 kilograms of shabu (crystal meth) and the arrest of two suspects.
The information from the eight individuals also led to a March 19 operation in Binangonan, Rizal, that seized 39.85 kilograms of shabu and arrested one suspect, the agency further detailed.

Monetary rewards for Operation Private Eye were approved by a PDEA committee composed of key officers and representatives of the business, academe and religious sectors.
“These private citizens took it upon themselves to report suspicious drug-related activities not minding their own safety,” PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez said.
