MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ordered the issuance of a show cause order against the Mega Bus Lines company and its driver over an incident with the inspection train of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) in Camarines Sur early morning this Saturday.

In a statement on Saturday, the DOTr said it directed the Land Transportation Office and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to release a show cause order against the driver and the company of the bus that rammed at the PNR’s inspection train.

The agency likewise ordered PNR to explain the alleged lack of safety measures in train operations and instructed it to take steps to prevent recurrence of the incident.

After the incident, PNR personnel immediately brought to the hospital 13 bus passengers who reportedly sustained injuries. They are now in good condition, the DOTr said.

Meanwhile, no one on board of the train, which are all PNR personnel, got injured.

The said bus that blocked the crossing was already removed, thus opening the Naga to Legazpi route to traffic. /cb
