MSU president dies of cardiac arrest

ILIGAN CITY- The officials, staff, and students of Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City mourned the passing of lawyer Hassanul Basari Dimakuta Mapupuno early morning on Tuesday.
According to Alizedney Ditucalan, chancellor of MSU Iligan Institute of Technology, Mapupuno, 60, died of cardiac arrest.
In an official statement, the Office of the Secretary of the MSU Board of Regents announced the passing of Mapupuno as it called on the university community to “observe a moment of silence in honor of the late President’s memory and legacy.”
“May we take this opportunity to come together as a community and support one another during this difficult time,” the MSU statement said.
Flags were lowered to half-staff as a symbol of “collective grief and respect for the late President’s contribution to the institution.”
Dr. Shalimar Rakiin, director of Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City, confirmed to the Inquirer that Mapupuno was brought to the hospital for “emergency revival. ”
