MANILA, Philippines — A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck off Rapu-rapu, Albay, early morning on Friday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its latest bulletin, the state seismology department stated that the tremor occurred at 2:35 a.m. and was of tectonic origin.
With a depth of 76 kilometers, its epicenter was located 5 kilometers northeast of Rapu-rapu.

Phivolcs raised intensities in the following areas:
- Intensity III – Santo Domingo, Albay
- Intensity II – City of Tabaco, Albay
- Intensity I – City of Legazpi, Albay
Instrumental intensities were also recorded in the following areas:
- Intensity III – Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon
- Intensity II – Bulusan, Sorsogon; City of Iriga, Camarines Sur
- Intensity I – Daet, Camarines Norte; Panganiban, Catanduanes
No aftershocks or damage to property is expected from the tremor, Phivolcs said. /das
