Raging waters damage spillway in Zamboanga del Norte

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur- – Raging waters brought by heavy rains on Saturday damaged a spillway in Barangay Pangian in Sibuco town, Zamboanga del Norte.

The spillway was built as a detour route after a bridge that spanned across the Pangian river was damaged by a flash flood in 2023 and is now undergoing repair.

Municipal information officer Efraem Roldan said the recent damage rendered the detour route impassable to all types of vehicles as of Saturday morning.

Owing to this, local authorities had advised the public to avoid passing through the affected route.

Locals were also warned not to attempt crossing the damaged spillway to avoid untoward incidents, asking for the public’s cooperation as the authorities were still working to address the situation./mr
