MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and other agencies will launch an operation to go after taxi drivers who overcharge passengers in airports and ports across the country.
DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon made this pronouncement on Monday following an incident where a taxi driver charged P1,200 for transporting passengers from Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s (Naia) Terminal 1 to Terminal 2.

“I am directing both the LTO [Land Transportation Office] and LTFRB [Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board] to conduct operations at our airports, specifically Naia, against these taxis that prey on our fellow Filipinos, and tourists, for charging [fare] like that),” Dizon said in a press conference.
“I’ve asked LTFRB and LTO to coordinate with Miaa [Manila International Airport Authority] and San Miguel Corporation in NNIC [New Naia Infra Corp] to penalize them,” Dizon added.
Aside from these agencies, Dizon said that PNP will join the operations to “clamp down” on erring taxi drivers in airports and ports nationwide.
Dizon on Monday also announced that the license of the taxi driver who overcharged passengers for P1,200 will be revoked.
The transport chief also revealed that the taxi unit and 14 others under the operator Taxihub Transport have expired since March 2025.
Dizon noted that the operator will also face charges for allowing the units to operate under expired provisional authority.
