The special order initially did not specify the position to which Macapaz was assigned.

However, CIDG Public Information Officer Maj. Helen Dela Cruz confirmed in a Viber message to INQUIRER.net on Thursday that Macapaz is now the unit’s acting director.

The CIDG is the PNP unit tasked with investigating major cases, including organized crime and high-profile crimes.

Macapaz’s assignment as CIDG chief came amid a reshuffle in the PNP, in which at least 27 officers were given new designations, just over two weeks after Torre took the helm of the law enforcement agency. /jpv/abc
