16 areas forecast to hit ‘dangerous’ heat index on Thursday

MANILA, Philippines — Sixteen areas across the country are expected to sizzle under the “dangerous” heat index level on Thursday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa said in its updated 5 p.m. bulletin that Dagupan City in Pangasinan and Sangley Point in Cavite City are forecast to peak at the highest index level at 44°C. Sangley Point recorded the highest heat index on Wednesday at 46°C.
Under the dangerous category, heat index ranges from 42°C to 51°C. Heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible while continued exposure to the sun can lead to heat stroke.
