PNP, AFP uncover arms cache in Isabela
CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela – Police and Army soldiers unearthed a cache of firearms allegedly owned by New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in an operation in San Mariano, Isabela on Saturday, May 24.
Police Brigadier General Antonio Marallag Jr., Cagayan Valley regional police director, said the discovery was a part of their combat effort dubbed Oplan: Maia.
Police from the Isabela province, Benito Soliven station, special action forces, and representatives from the regional and provincial intelligence units together with Army soldiers from the 95th Infantry Battalion joined the operation with an informant.
Found in Sitio (sub-village) Divisoria, Barangay (village) Dibuluan at 9:15 a.m. were an anti-tank improvised explosive device (IED), two booby trap IED dynamites, an AK-47 Magazine with three magazine springs, a handheld radio, assorted kits and items, and anti-government documents.

The found items were brought to the 1st Isabela Police Mobile Force Company Headquarters for documentation and disposition./jpv
